Gazi Anatolian High School
Gazi Anadolu High School is a public school located in the city centre of Samsun in the Black Sea region. There are 618 students range from ages 14 to 18 as well as 55 teachers. The students mainly live in the school’s neighbourhood and symbolize families from different socio-economic classes and backgrounds. As idealist and collaborative teachers, we intend to form the students to become well-qualified and personally mature citizens being aware of European values, peaceful, respectful to other individuals different from them, knowing the value of human rights and democracy, away from violence and terrorism.
This project have had a lasting impact with various positive effects on the students not only in terms of academic success, but also with regards to building up elements such as self-confidence, modeling a European identity, socializing, a sense of belonging to a European family and accepting cultural differences and supporting the world peace and democracy.
Our school with idealistic teachers aims at educating the students to become self-confident and social individuals whilst respecting the individual differences and the universal human rights. Our community strongly trusts in democratic principles. We are able to share ideas with other people being likewise open-minded European citizens in the 21st century. We strive to increase the students’ academic achievements in the context given.
Our school board has always suppported the students to join in sporting activities, national and transnational projects to keep them active during their education period because we strongly believe that such kind of facilities can help the students attend school regularly and thereby decrease absenteeism, early school leaving and bullying. In this manner, we put faith in keeping them away from violence and illlegal groups.
The teachers in our school with these objectives in mind have participated in many seminars and teaching training programmes held by the National Education Directorate, The Security Directorate and civil society organizations. To develop themselves in transnational projects, the teachers have volunteered for Erasmus+ and eTwinning project trainings.
