Erasmus+ went abroad again – for the second time that term.
From 10 March 2025 until 16 March 2025 a delegation went to X Liceum ogólnokształcące im. Królowej jadwigi w Warszawie, Poland. We really had a wonderful time together, even though with the topic “80 Years On: Bridging German-Polish Past and Future” every participant was asked to see the horrors of World War II and had to recognize how important a resilient democracy for each European citizen is.
Questioning stereotypes and clichés was as part of the encounter as physically visiting the places of Nazi terror on the premises of the former concentration camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau and the Uprising Museum in Warsaw. A nice stroll through Ujazdowski Park was used to conduct interviews on the common past of Poland and Germany. The visit at the German Embassy in Warsaw highlighted the importance of both this demanding topic and the very meeting of groups of pupils and teachers.
With every day proceeding one could feel that people have come to terms with that huge challenge. We managed to make friends and show how important it is to remember those times actively.
“Everybody, every human being has the obligation to contribute somehow to this world.”
